Due to hurricane Florence, the walk has been rescheduled for October 27th, 2018 starting at 9 am. Our local will be gold level sponsors of the Out of Darkness Community Walk. This is a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The AFSP raises awareness, funds scientific research, and provides resources and aid to those affected by suicide. Suicide is the nation's 10th-leading cause of death. Public attention often focuses on teens and college students, but the highest numbers and rates are in middle-aged adults. Construction workers are rated the 2nd highest among occupations with 53 deaths per 100,000. These numbers are far too high. Please help us, and our other brothers and sisters, to reach the goal of reducing the suicide rate by 20% by 2025. You can help by joining our team or donating. Family and friends are welcome.
